Meeting Minutes for Sunday, 12/15/2002
Tri-City Sky Busters - Minutes
December 15th, 2002
1:00 P.M.
Brunswick Public Library
Type of meeting: Regular Club Meeting
Attendees: T. Sample, N. Bade, L. Kramer, C. Pearson, J. Mullane, M. Coburn, B. Sinkins, P. Pfingsten, P. Easter, M. Hanna, S. Gerber, D. Schaeffer, J. Daninger, G. Korodi, G. Freed, M. Dorociak
Topics
1.) Meeting Start - Les Kramer
Discussion: Les Kramer distributed five(5) Christmas cards for the membership to sign. These cards are for the launch field land owners and FAA officials.
Conclusions: The cards were signed by the membership.
Action items: Pete Pfingsten will deliver cards to the land owners and Les Kramer will mail cards to the FAA officials.

2.) Elections - Les Kramer
Discussion: Les Kramer presented the current club officers. He stated that the current officers were all running for re-election. The only vacant slot was for Secretary and Les nominated Jim Mullane.
Conclusions: All potential officers ran unopposed. The membership accepted the re-elected officers and the new Secretary. The 2003 Sky Buster officers are as follows:
President: Les Kramer
Vice President: Pat Easter
Treasurer: Pete Pfingsten
Secretary: Jim Mullane
Advisor/Promotions/Education: Gerry Freed
3.) Raffle Discussion - Les Kramer
Discussion: Les discussed the current raffle prizes and offered the membership a chance to purchase tickets.
4.) Treasures Report - Pete Pfingsten
Discussion: Pete presented the current financial report to the membership.
Conclusions: The account has $1084.00 with $770.00 in the trailer fund, leaving $314.00 for general use. Pete had a printed accounting of all of the year's transactions and he made this available to the membership.
5.) Launch Field Report - Les Kramer
Discussion: Les mentioned that each year the club purchases a fruit basket for the launch field land owners. He asked if this was still a viable gift.
Conclusions: Pete Pfingsten mentioned that the fruit baskets seem to be accepted well and mentioned that we may purchase a Damon's gift certificate after the next GLRMR launch for the farmer.
Action items: Pete will purchase the gifts and deliver them before Christmas.

6.) New HyperTEK Trailer - Tom Sample
Discussion: Les Kramer mentioned that Tom Sample, Barry Lynch and Marty Dorociak built a trailer to launch HyperTEK rockets. Tom has offered the trailer for our use. Reimbursement for NO2 and O2 used would be required.
Conclusions: Tom discussed the construction of the trailer. It is fully equipped to launch AP and HyperTEK rockets. It contains two rails. The membership discussed the possible problem of maneuvering the trailer in a muddy field. It was decided that it will take 2-3 people to move the
trailer. The club will still have all of its launch equipment on hand during regularly scheduled launches.
Action items: Tom will bring the trailer to the next launch

7.) Team America Rocketry Challenge - Gerry Freed
Discussion: Gerry Freed discussed the current NAR Team America Rocketry Challenge contest. 37 teams from Ohio (over ½ from Northern Ohio) will participate. You can find more information on this contest on our web site www.skybusters.org
Conclusions: Gerry asked the membership to volunteer time to act as advisors to the schools if required. Gerry will send e-mails requesting help when required.
Action items: Gerry will monitor the progress

8.) Homeland Security Act - Les Kramer
Discussion: Les discussed the recently passed legislation and how it may affect our hobby.
Conclusions: It is still unclear how this may affect our hobby. Marty Dorociak had returned from the Erie, PA club and it was also a topic of discussion. It was mentioned that all AP motor storage may require a LEUP as soon as January 25th, 2003.
Action items: Les Kramer will monitor the situation with NAR and notify the membership with any updates.

9.) Year End Review - Les Kramer
Discussion: Les Kramer and Gerry Freed acknowledged individual members for their contributions during 2002.
Conclusions:
Neil Bade - All previous newsletters converted to PDF format and added to our web site
Pat Easter - Purchased and donated to the club a new small rail
Marty Dorociak - HyperTEK support and found a new source for NO2
Jamie Wylie - Web site maintenance and web hosting
Gerry Freed - Two major shows (Cleveland Air show and RC show in Ashtabula) and a variety of educational events. Gerry thanked the members who helped out with all of the events.
Pat and Gerry discussed the educational seminars given to local organizations and Pat was acknowledged for taking care of all of the kit purchasing and distribution.
GLRMR II - 2002's launch was a success even though we had a motor shortage
NYPower - The New York launch was a success and many Sky Busters attended.
LDRS - The Sky Busters were represented by Barry Lynch, Chris Pearson, Marty Dorociak, and Tom Sample.
10.) Blastoff Rocket Club of Erie, PA visit - Marty Dorociak
Discussion: Marty Dorociak visited the Blastoff Rocketry Club of Erie, PA at a recent meeting and discussed a number of items.
Conclusions: The Erie club has purchased the X-Rockets HyperTEK launch equipment. They are also looking for a new launch field and Marty mentioned a few possible locations including one in eastern Ohio.
11.) Raffle - Les Kramer
Discussion: The club raffle was held and door prizes were distributed. $97 was made for the trailer fund.
